Asked on the phone
Questions
The eight questions that come up before anyone books. Answered here so the call can be about the appliance.

01
What does the diagnostic visit cost?
A flat fee, listed on the pricing page and on every call band on this site. It covers the visit and the diagnosis, and it is credited toward the repair if you approve the work. You get a written estimate before any part is ordered.
-
02
Are you affiliated with Viking?
No. Foundry Line Appliance is an independent appliance repair company. We are not affiliated with, authorized by, or endorsed by Viking or its parent company. We service Viking appliances only, we use genuine OEM parts, and our technicians hold EPA Section 608 certification for sealed-system refrigerant work. If you want the manufacturer’s own service network, the manufacturer publishes a locator and you should use that instead.
-
03
Will you look at my other appliances while you are here?
No. We take work on Viking equipment only. That limit is the whole point of the shop: the parts on the van, the manuals on the bench and the failure patterns in our heads are all one manufacturer deep instead of a thin layer across twenty. If the dead appliance in your kitchen is a different make, we are the wrong call and we will say so on the phone rather than charge you a visit.
-
04
How long does a repair take, start to finish?
Most calls are one visit if the failed part is a common one and it is on the van. If it has to be ordered, the second visit is booked when the part is confirmed shipped, not before, so you are not sitting at home for a delivery that has not left. Sealed-system refrigeration work and anything that needs the unit pulled out of a built-in opening runs longer, because getting the appliance out and back in square is most of the labor.
-
05
Do you fit genuine parts or aftermarket ones?
Genuine OEM parts. On professional equipment the aftermarket version of a control board, an igniter module or a door hinge is rarely the same part with a different label, and the failure comes back. The estimate names the part before you approve it, so there is nothing to discover on the invoice.
-
06
What exactly does the warranty cover?
Ninety days on our labor and a full year on the parts we fit, from the invoice date. It covers the repair we performed. It does not cover a different fault in the same appliance, damage from misuse, or a failure somewhere else in the house that takes the appliance with it. If the same fault returns inside the window, the visit is ours, not yours.
-
07
Do you charge more for evenings, weekends or holidays?
There is no after-hours rate, because there are no after-hours calls. We run Monday to Friday and a short Saturday, and that is the whole schedule. Calls that land outside those hours are returned the next working morning. Any shop advertising round-the-clock emergency service for built-in kitchen equipment is selling you a surcharge, not a faster fix.
-
08
My kitchen is pre-war and the opening is tight. Can you still work?
Usually, but the visit starts differently. In Riverside, Avondale, Old Ortega and San Marco the cabinet opening was laid out decades before professional equipment existed, and the appliance has to come out before anything can be diagnosed. We measure the opening, check what the floor and the surround will take, and tell you if the honest answer is trim carpentry or an electrician rather than a part.
